Starting from Prad we head off to the 48 hairpins up to the Stilfser Joch (2757m) in the National Park. From the top of the pass we ride down to the Umbrail Pass (2501m) and then we cross the border between Italy and Suisse. The road from the pass downhill is in bad conditions.
The first village we reach in Switzerland is Sta. Maria and from there we ride up to the Oven Pass (2149m). From the top of the pass we ride down to Zernez where we turn left towards St. Moritz.
However, we don’t ride directly to St. Moritz, but right before we turn left to Pontresina and ride up the Bernina Pass (2328m). After leaving the glacier on the top of the pass, we find a very different vegetation here: palms and vineyards. We reach Tirano and ride towards the South, to the Passo d’Aprica (1176m).
These road sections are not in good condition, but they provide a beautiful view to the landscapes.
After the top of the pass we reach the village of Edolo and turn right to Ponte di Legno and up to the Gavia Pass (2621m), where the road is still not in good condition.
From the pass we ride down to Santa Caterina Valfurva and finally to Bormio. These road sections are in good condition again and soon we will reach the Stilfser Joch from where we get back down to Prad.
