Hiking walk to the mountain farms Eishöfe

At a glance: the Pfossental Valley, a side valley of the Schnalstal valley, leads into the high mountain regions of the nature reserve Texel group. It’s one of South Tyrol’s most unspoilt and beautiful high alpine valleys and can easily be reached from Vorderkaser to the mountain farms Eishöfe. The walk can also be extended up to the Eisjoch pass. In the morning observant walkers should see chamois, deer and mountain ibex. Rest stop possible at the Eishof or at the Rableitalm.

Best time: summer and autummn, best months are July and September

Joys: after the ascent you will reach a peaceful wide high valley

Efforts: an alpine walk with little difference in altitude of about 400 m. Walking time there and back about 3 hours

Starting point: Vorderkaser in the Pfossental valley (1676 m), reachable by car, there you find also a parking place

Schnals Eishof

Route: from 1 Gasthof Vorderkaser on path no. 24 to the 2 Eishof (2069m) in the Pfossental Valley. Return the same way OR

Possible extension: continue up to the 3 Stettinerhütte/Alpine hut Stettiner (2875 m) on the Eisjoch pass, 3,5 hours from Vorderkaser
