Bormio and the Stilfserjoch back to Prad
Route: Prad – Meran – Lana – Gampenjoch – Fondo – Tonalepass – Ponte di Legno – Gavia Pass – St. Caterina – Bormio – Stilfser Joch – Prad
Lenght: 250 km
Journey time: 5 hours
For this journey we ride from Prad (900m) towards the South, through the orchards of the Vinschgau Valley. In the Meran basin, our route takes us to Lana.
From there we ride up to the Gampenjoch (1518m) following a very good road with stunning views and windings hairpins. After reaching the pass we are already in the Trentino region where we find only Italian road signs.
In Fondo we turn right and cross several villages until the Tonale Pass (1883m) whereby this road is very suitable for motorbikes. After the top of the pass we ride towards Ponte di Legno. From there starts a very narrow part with blind corners. Arrived on the top of the Gavia Pass (2621m), we enjoy a beautiful view to a small mountain lake. After a short break we ride down on a good road towards Caterina Valfurva and then to Bormio. From there we head off towards the South again, up to the pass road of the Stilfserjoch.
After about 25-30 minutes drive, we reach the top of the pass and may enjoy the wonderful view to the fantastic landscape of the Ortles massif, until we continue our journey driving down the Stilfserjoch road to Prad.
